Change: Here Is The ONE Things I Would Change About Myself Today

Today’s journal entry is going to be very interesting! This prompt statement is “something you want to change about yourself”. Like almost EVERYONE, there is a laundry list of things I would like to change about myself.

I’m 27 years old. I’m still trying to find myself. So, to be honest, I am changing who I am every single day. I have great days. I have okay days. And I even have bad days. What I have come to understand about life is that I can only control me. Me. Myself. And I. That is who I am responsible for, at this moment.

In time, that will change. But for now, that is where my life is.

So, now, let’s jump into this journal entry.

Entry 006: Something you want to change about yourself

Like I said earlier. There is a laundry list of things I would like to change about myself. But to get specific and honest with myself and you. I have decided to share this one thing!

Changing my nail biting habit is my focus right now. I bite my nails when I am nervous. It is not the kind of nerves you get when you about to deliver a speech. Nor is it the kind of nervousness you get right before a musical performance.

It is the underlying nervousness that comes with deep thoughts. There are so many thoughts running through my mind at any given time. On any given day.

When I go to bit my nails, I do not even think about it. I know it is anxious energy. There is something I want to do. Something that I need to do. But, there are lots of distractions. From work responsibilities to personal life goals.

Did You Try To Change This Before?

About 2 years ago. In 2014, I was able to stop biting my nails. I did a weird challenge. I would put band-aids on the fingers of one of my hands. It was an experiment to grow my nails. Vanity moment!

To my surprise, I got some results. My nails grew. Peace of mind was mine. I was not nervous about ANYTHING. I thought I had kicked the habit. So, I stopped after a few weeks.

Writing this blog post now. You can tell I have not quite ridden myself of that bad habit. The goal is to restart this challenge next month. I know what to expect because I have done it before. I know my end goal of being less nervous is a few weeks away. The reward is longer, healthy, and beautiful nails.

There is a little insight into the woman behind the blog. The one thing she would like to change about herself right now.
